Tim Tebow led the Florida Gators to two national championships before being selected by the Denver Broncos. Aaron Hernandez was a member of the Florida squad that won the 2009 championship as a teammate with Tebow that year.

Even though Tebow and Hernandez were drafted by different teams, Tebow did reunite with Hernandez in the NFL when he joined the New England Patriots practice squad in 2013. As such, Schwarzenegger, who starred in "Gen V" on Prime Video, will be making more than one cameo in this series.

Aaron Hernandez and Tom Brady were teammates for two seasons with the New England Patriots, but once Hernandez's life took a turn for the worst, the two grew apart. Ross Jirgl's involvement will be limited as "American Sports Story" progresses.

What happened to Aaron Hernandez?

Aaron Hernandez played tight end for the New England Patriots from 2010 to 2012 after being selected in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft. He was taken into custody for the murder of Odin Lloyd, the boyfriend of his fiancée's sister, in 2013. After his conviction, he received a life sentence without the chance of parole. He was also charged with double murder for the 2012 murder of two men outside a Boston nightclub; however, he was ultimately found not guilty.

Hernandez died by suicide in jail in April 2017, hanging himself with a bed sheet at the age of 27. He was survived by a wife and a daughter.

Hernandez's attorney declared following his death that the former tight end had serious chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a degenerative disorder of the brain associated with head trauma. Aggression, sadness, lowered control of impulses, memory loss, cognitive decline and suicidal thoughts are some of the symptoms associated with CTE.
