The Dallas Cowboys experienced another disappointing end to their season. This was a campaign in which they were Super Bowl contenders, but failed to reach the NFC Championship Game.

They now have crucial decisions to make in the summer. Owing to salary cap difficulties, they may be forced to part ways with their future Hall of Fame left tackle Tyron Smith.

As per Bob Sturm of the Athletic, Tyron Smith was on a very team-friendly deal with the Cowboys, due to it getting restructured over the years. But that has amounted to a massive amount in his upcoming final season with the franchise.

Smith has a cap hit of $17.6 million in 2023, but $9.6 million can be saved if he is cut before June 1. The dead money accounted for by his cut will be $8 million for the season.

Tyron Smith is undoubtedly an important part of the Cowboys and will be difficult to replace. But the organization may be forced to cut him in order to assemble a team that can compete for the Super Bowl, while remaining under the salary cap.

With that said, if Smith is cut by the team, there could be multiple franchises on the market that would love to have a veteran left tackle like him on their team.

The Dallas Cowboys have a big offseason ahead of them where they need to make crucial decisions in order to boost their chances of winning the Super Bowl. Owner Jerry Jones hasn't ruled out drafting a quarterback and that is a situation to keep an eye on.

The Cowboys have done well in the draft in recent years, and they need to do so again. If Tyron Smith is released, the team will need to strengthen their offensive line. There is also a need for another good cornerback to complement Trevon Diggs.

The Los Angeles Rams are likely to trade Jalen Ramsey in the coming weeks, and it will be intriguing to see whether the Cowboys make a run for him. Ramsey will fit right in with the Cowboys' already-stacked defense and will benefit Diggs as well. Furthermore, they need to get Dak Prescott some aid, since their team lacks a Pro Bowl-type receiver aside from CeeDee Lamb.
