It was recently reported that Pat McAfee is being sued by Brett Favre for defamation. Favre has been connected to a massive welfare scandal in his home state of Mississippi. Favre apparently believes that he's been misrepresented by the media host. McAfee has often shared information about the alarming and developing story during his popular "The Pat McAfee Show."
McAfee recently addressed the situation during an episode to give a preliminary explanation of what Favre is claiming, in his own words. He issued a statement the day after hearing the news that he was being sued for apparent defamation.
"I guess whenever you get a little bit too big, you fly a little too close to the sun. I'm getting sued alongside Shannon Sharpe and an auditor from Mississippi by Brett f***ing Favre. Brett Favre is suing me in a defamation lawsuit, saying I defamed his name to try to earn a profit."

McAfee then said that he had previously received emails from Favre's attorneys demanding that he comply with their requests. They apparently wanted him to delete every video he's ever posted in which he talked about Favre. They also wanted him to issue a public apology for allegedly making false claims about Favre.
Pat McAfee failed to comply with their requests by the deadline he was given, which resulted in them pursuing a lawsuit against him for alleged defamation. He then shared another personal statement about the lawsuit.
"I would like to let everybody know that the quotes that were in that lawsuit are certainly accurate," McAfee said. "But, there's one word, I believe that was said often on this particular program if you were to watch it at all, and that would be, 'allegedly.'
"Our job is to report the news. 'Allegedly' what was going on down in Mississippi with Brett Favre, the man who is suing me for money and for defamation, was being reported on this particular program because we owe the sports media world our coverage of it. We take our jobs seriously as journalists."
Pat McAfee doesn't appear to have any intention of hiding from this developing situation, but will rather meet it head on. He said he has no intention of retracting any of his statements because he doesn't believe he said anything that was untrue or without clarifying that it wasn't necessarily factual, but instead alleged.
It's important to note that Favre is not currently being criminally charged for his involvement in the Mississippi welfare scandal. He is also suing Shannon Sharpe, another popular media personality, for the same reason as McAfee.
How will Pat McAfee proceed in his defense of being sued by Brett Favre for defamation?
During his same explanation on the recent episode of the "Pat McAfee Show," McAfee outlined his initial plans for how he will move forward.
"A lot of people are wondering how my lawyers are going to handle this," McAfee said. "You know it. I ain't got 'em. So, let's ride this f***er. I'm excited to see how it goes. I'll see ya in court, pal."
At least for now, Pat McAfee seems to be welcoming the challenge from Brett Favre. He's clearly displaying public confidence that the lawsuit won't hold up, as he believes he didn't do anything to warrant it.
