It's been nearly two years since Dwayne Haskins Jr. tragically passed away at the age of 24. The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was struck by a car in South Florida, while he was there training with his teammates.
As per reports, Haskins' parents and sister are filing a lawsuit against the quarterback's widow, Kalabrya Haskins. Kalabrya got married to Dwayne in 2021, and she had earlier also filed a lawsuit, claiming someone had intentionally struck her husband.
As per Jason Morrin, the plaintiffs, i.e., Haskins' parents and sisters, have alleged that they never met Kalabrya before her marriage to their son. They also said that their daughter-in-law is threatening them over Dwayne Haskins Jr.'s NIL rights. Morrin wrote:
"Specifically, plaintiffs claim that Kalabrya challenged the establishment of the Haskins Family Foundation Inc. and successfully requested disablement of the Instagram social media accounts of Dwayne Haskins, Sr., Tamia Haskins, and the Haskins Family Foundation Inc."

"Plaintiffs, through legal counsel, sent a cease and desist letter to defendant's counsel on June 6, 2024, but state they have not been given requested assurances. Plaintiffs claim that defendant has misinterpreted Pennsylvania’s Right of Publicity statute," Morrin added via a post on X.
Kalabrya Haskins was a college basketball player at Michigan State and is the sister of WNBA player Kysre Rae Gondrezick. While Haskins was alive, Kalabrya once got arrested for domestic violence charges, which were later dismissed. The former Ohio State star mentioned that his wife got mad after he visited a nightclub without her.
A look back at Dwayne Haskins Jr.'s football career
Dwayne Haskins Jr. was a star quarterback at Ohio State before he entered the NFL. He played 22 games in college and threw for 5,396 yards, 54 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The Washington Commanders drafted Haskins with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he failed to live up to the expectations.
In 16 games for the Commanders across two seasons, Haskins Jr. had a record of 3-10. He threw for 2,804 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions while having a passer rating of just 74.4.
The Commanders waived Haskins in December 2020, but he signed a reserves/future contract with the Steelers in January 2021. The Ohio State product then signed a one-year $2.54 million deal with the Steelers in 2022, before he died.
