Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was suspended for two games by the NFL on Monday. Williams violated the NFL's Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) policy and, as a result, he will miss time for the Lions.
He spoke briefly after the suspension was made public:
“No choice but to take it on the chin. I’m in good spirits just ready to get back with my brothers as soon as possible"
Williams will miss the games against the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a breakout season. After two disappointing years to start his career, the first-round pick blossomed as WR2 for Ben Johnson's offense, using his speed to create a lot of big plays.
During Week 7's crucial contest against the Minnesota Vikings, he didn't have the best of games, finishing with just one catch for -4 yards. However, this season, he already has 361 yards in six games, already his career-high to go with three touchdowns.
Lions WR Jameson Williams' history with NFL suspensions
This is the second time the league has suspended the wide receiver. In 2023, during his second season, he was suspended for six games for violating the NFL's policy against gambling.
However, after four weeks had passed, his suspension was lifted and he was allowed to return to the team earlier than expected. His impact throughout the season, however, was diminished: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, Kalif Raymond and Josh Reynolds all had more receiving yards than him.
Getting suspended for a second straight season isn't ideal as he looks to boost his claim for a second contract. It's also important to remember that, due to an injury suffered in college, he played in just six games during the 2022 season and recorded a single reception.
