Aaron Rodgers' first full season as the quarterback of the New York Jets is coming to a close. The Jets are just 4-11 with two games remaining in the regular season, which is not what fans had hoped for heading into the season.

Although the team has only won four games and Rodgers' performance has been under scrutiny, he is inching closer to two NFL records. The quarterback needs just one touchdown to reach 500, whence he would join Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks to hit the milestone.

Rodgers is also 496 yards away from breaking former New York Jets' quarterback Joe Namath's single-season passing yards record with the team. Many fans on X have said that they don't want Aaron Rodgers to break the record as he has only led the team to four wins.

Some fans also stated that Joe Namath reached the milestone in a 14-game regular season whereas the regular season now has 17 games. Some feel that if Rodgers does break the record, there should be an asterisk stating that he had additional games on the schedule.

Fans of the New York Jets went on to say that they didn't feel that it was fair that Namath's record would be broken by Aaron Rodgers, who they don't see as a team player.

"In a 17 game season, in the era of offense, nothing matters anymore. You really have to compare in era only. But I understand this sentiment."-One person on X said.
"Stats don’t make the man. The only stat that matters. 4 wins."- Another Jets fan said.
"Me too. Should not be in the same uniform as Joe. The old man loses and pads his stats."- One person believes.

New York Jets' fans, who are still upset over Rodgers' performance in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams, felt that he played selfishly and is 'padding' his stats.

"Agree. And hope he doesn’t get TD pass #500. He should be benched for his selfish play yesterday," one person on X said.
"the wonderful thing about Rodgers is how bad he is while being so good," said another.
"Yeah hope he turns an ankle over christmas. i don’t want that f****** in this miserable record book," one fan who was adamant about the record not being broken said.

Former Jets LB has an issue with Aaron Rodgers going after 'sentimental records'

The New York Jets were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams 19-9 on Sunday afternoon. Aaron Rodgers faced a former NFC North rival in Matthew Stafford, who had the upper hand in this matchup.

Former New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott said that he was not in favor of Aaron Rodgers breaking the record.

Scott said on the SNY postgame show after the loss to the Rams that he believed the quarterback is purposely deciding who will catch his 500th pass.

"To have a 10-minute drive and end up with nothing. And it’s because you’re going for records, right? Sentimental records. And you’re deciding who gets your record. And I think that’s – that’s despicable," Bart Scott said on the SNY postgame show on Sunday afternoon.

Typically, when an athlete is approaching such monumental records, there is a lot of excitement leading up to the moment. The way Rodgers has played in his career has not gained him many fans, which leads to many hoping that he won't break the record.
