When NFL fans think of the Denver Broncos, for most, the first name that pops up is John Elway. After a storied career with the franchise, Elway moved off the field and was the team's general manager for 10 years before moving into a consulting position.
Well, after some discussions with the new Denver CEO, Greg Penner, Elway and the Broncos decided it was best to part ways. There was no anger or animosity with the decision, as both parties agreed it was time to move on.
Elway spoke with 9News and detailed that the reason for moving on was that he simply wanted flexibilty in his life.
Elway said:

“I’ve enjoyed the relationship with the Broncos for a long, long time. I told Greg I’d be happy to be a resource for him and help in any way that I can. I just wanted the flexibility. They’re in great hands. I still plan on being around to watch and be a resource for Greg or George (Paton) if I can.’’
Elway is looking to the next chapter of his life. Just what that looks like now is unknown but it looks like he is happy with the decision to move on.
John Elway a true Denver great
John Elway is who most people think of when it comes to the Denver Broncos, and now that the chapter is coming to an end, many wonder what is next for the Hall of Fame quarterback.
After playing for 16 years and then being involved with the franchise in a host of roles that included general manager, president of football operations, and then as a consultant, John Elway's life has always had something to do with the Broncos.
It is going to be rather odd not having the once-star quarterback involved with the franchise in any capacity, but given how many years of great service he has under his belt with the Broncos.
