LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers was arrested on Monday night on weapons charges, according to New Orleans authorities.
Orleans Parish Jail records show that Nabers was arrested on a charge of Illegal Carrying of a Weapon. Although the arrest happened on Monday night, he was only booked into jail Tuesday at 2 AM. He was released late Tuesday morning and did not have to post bond.
There was no further information about his arrest. The LSU Athletics Department says that it's aware of the situation, but neither the athletic department nor the football program has released a statement on the matter yet.

Who is Malik Nabers?
Nabers was a star for the Tigers in 2022, the first year of Brian Kelly's tenure as the head coach. He was the only player with over 1,000 scrimmage yards, with 1,017 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was Jayden Daniels' favorite target.
Malik Nabers was a four-star recruit who flipped from Mississippi State to LSU on National Signing Day. He's a 19-year-old wide receiver out of Louisiana who became a starter for the Tigers in 2022 in his sophomore season.
His arrest certainly didn't help his draft positioning, but he's not eligible to be drafted in 2023 anyway. His first year of eligibility will be 2024. Nabers could cement his position as a top wide receiver in the nation next season, as the team enters its second season under Brian Kelly's leadership.
Nabers has already left his mark on the program. He was named the 2023 Citrus Bowl MVP after a monster game that included nine receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown. The Tigers won that game with an incredible 63-7 score against the Purdue Boilermakers.
For LSU, next season will be a true test as to where the program could go with Kelly at the helm. One hope will be for Malik not to get involved with off-field problems that could affect his performances, his availability and his draft stock. He has a ton of talent and can't allow these mistakes to happen again.
We've seen plenty of former Tigers shine in the pros. Malik has the talent to do the same.
