Why was Marlon Humphrey hit with a $45,020 fine? Explaining the reason behind Ravens CB's penalty

Even though the Baltimore Ravens have been eliminated from the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs, there is still news coming out from the team. Tom Pelissero reported that cornerback Marlon Humphrey was fined $45,020 for the use of his helmet on a tackle against Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the AFC Divisional Round.

There also was no penalty flag thrown in the game for the unnecessary roughness hit.

As seen in the video, there is helmet-to-helmet contact on the stop towards the end of the first half by Humphrey, which aided in the Ravens defense tackling Allen and stopping that play while safety Kyle Hamilton was simultaneously pulling Allen down.

Marlon Humphrey reacted to Tom Pelissero's tweet, saying that he found out about the fine on social media.

The Baltimore Ravens ultimately fell short of their goal of winning the Super Bowl and as a result, the team is going to look a bit different for next season. However, it looks like Marlon Humphrey is not going anywhere as the 2025 NFL season is the fourth year of his five-year, $97.5 million rookie contract extension that he signed prior to the 2020 season.

He is scheduled to make $14 million in base salary in 2025 and has a $4 million roster bonus if he is on the roster by the fifth league day of the 2025 season. However, there are a few players from this year's team who are free agents and it will be interesting to see which players return.
