NFL Sunday Ticket, a mainstay of football fans in the United States since 1994, will be getting a slew of digital upgrades when it moves from DirecTV to YouTube after the ongoing season.

However, the NFL is set to face a $6 billion class action lawsuit alleging that it limited broadcast games and raised the price of the Sunday Ticket. The lawsuit is allegedly being filed by both residential and commercial customers.

As per Front Office Sports, DirecTV owns the Sunday Ticket until the end of the season, and the plaintiffs' attorneys are suing for damages on behalf of people who have acquired the service since 2011.

While the residential class has at least 2.4 million members, the commercial class has roughly 48,000 members. A trial is scheduled to begin in February 2024, after attorneys for the NFL and its franchises argued that the plaintiffs' lawyers failed to fulfill the legal conditions for class formation.

The league has experienced constant public outrage for altering conventional ways of playing or watching the game, and this $6 billion lawsuit is the latest example. Everyone can only conjecture about what will happen in the future until the trial is over.
