Russell Wilson's injury is a cause for concern for the Pittsburgh Steelers as we inch closer to their season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Wilson was listed as questionable on the Steelers' injury report heading into the weekend. Despite being named the starter in Week 1 after a much-publicized QB battle, it appears Mike Tomlin will not be able to call upon his franchise quarterback in Week 1.

What happened to Russell Wilson?
Wilson picked up a calf injury in training camp and reported calf tightness earlier this week during a practice session.
"It just felt a little tight, just wanted to be smart about it," Wilson told reporters.
When he was further pressed on his injury, Wilson replied:
"I'm trying to get my body ready to go and rock and roll, so we're doing everything we can."
Wilson added that he "really didn't try to do too much" during Friday's practice session with the Week 1 game on the horizon, saying that he and the team are trying to be smart about managing his calf injury.
Wilson travelled with the team to Atlanta in hopes of being a game-time decision. However, at the time of writing, all signs point towards Wilson missing the game with a long season ahead.
In Wilson's absence, Justin Fields will line up under center, hoping to make a case for himself as the starter.
Steelers vs Falcons injury report
Pittsburgh Steelers injury report
In addition to Wilson, the Steelers have a couple of additional injury concerns for their season opener. Rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson has been listed as out owing to an ankle injury. Defensive tackle Logan Lee and guard Isaac Seumalo will also not suit up against Atlanta.
Atlanta Falcons injury report
The Falcons have a relatively healthier injury report with Kyle Pitts the only major name whose status is up in the air. Pitts is dealing with a hamstring injury but assured Falcons fans that he is well on his way to recovering.
However, defensive back Antonio Hamilton Sr. has officially been ruled out with a groin injury.
