Much of the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys fanbase has been trying to decipher what the organization will do with running back Ezekiel Elliott. After years of good service, Zeke finally has no guaranteed money on his contract, which gives Dallas an out.
With Tony Pollard emerging as the No. 1 back, many wonder where that leaves Elliott. In short, in dangerous terrortory. With the futures of both Elliott and Pollard on shaky ground, there is a thought that the Cowboys could even draft a back in the first round.
Stephen Jones even said as much while attending the scounting combine in Indianapolis.

With Elliott slowing down production-wise and with Pollard recovering after a nasty ankle and leg fracture suffered in the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas is in a between a rock and a hard place.
But drafting a running back makes sense if the futures of both Pollard and Elliott are murky. Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson has been the name linked most with Dallas.
He is a physical specimen and would fit in nicely with Mike McCarthy's offense. But will Dallas draft a running back in the first round? Time will tell.
Elliott on borrowed time in Dallas?
From the outside at least, it would appear Elliott is on borrowed time in Dallas. The 27-year-old had career lows in rushing yards (876), attempts (231), yards per attempt (3.8) and yards per game (58.4).
While the running back has already said that he wants to remain in Dallas, which would mean a hefty pay cut, if a team can give Elliott more than what the Cowboys are offering, then that is where it can get dicey for the running back.
Having spent his entire career in Dallas, it appears that he wants to remain a Cowboy, but at this time of his career, with his stats falling and he no longer being "the guy" at running back, Zeke will need to assess his options.
