The Tennessee Titans will be starting quarterback Mason Rudolph over Will Levis against the Buffalo Bills when the two AFC teams face each other in Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season. It has engendered a strong reaction from fans given Tennessee is 1-4 for the season and many supporters would like to see the backup given a chance to stake a claim as the starter.

However, the reason Mason Rudolph got the nod is because of an injury to Will Levis' throwing right shoulder. It has been persistent and while he got back to full practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday, he was again limited on Friday. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that he will, therefore, be inactive in Week 7 against the Bills.

Titans fans took to X/Twitter to give their take on this scoop. Many were unsparing in their criticism of Will Levis:

Other fans focused on Rudolph and wished him the best as they hoped that he would be the person who would start getting some wins for Tennessee:

"Let’s go Mason!!," one fan said.
"Time for Rudolph to shine!," another fan wrote.
"Wishing Rudolph luck on Sunday!," one fan added.

Can Mason Rudolph lead Titans to victory against Bills in Will Levis' absence?

Much has been made of Will Levis' poor play this season at the quarterback position for the Titans. A particular problem for him has been his propensity to turn the ball over through fumbles and picks. He has seven interceptions this season and just five touchdowns in the five games he has featured in. Remarkably, he even got picked against the Miami Dolphins where he threw for just 25 yards before exiting the game.

However, Rudolph was not much better when he came in to relieve Levis. He had 85 yards and no touchdowns. His completion percentage of 52.9 percent was lower than what the Tennessee starter had in any game in 2024. The saving grace was that he did not throw an interception, though.

Given that Will Levis participated in practice this week after being ruled out, it is likely that Mason Rudolph did not get as many reps with the starting offense. Therefore, based on his previous performance this season when he came in, he might not be the best option against the Bills in Week 7. However, given the injury scenario, he is right now the only option.

If Levis is out for an extended period going forward, which cannot be ruled out since it looks like it got inflamed after he returned last week, that would probably give Mason Rudolph more time to practice with the starters on offense. Then would be a better time for fans to judge him and give him the chance to turn the Titans' season around.

But Tennessee fans know that time is not on their side and they need a win now so that they do not sink to 1-5 for the season on Sunday.
