Will Tom Brady go to the San Francisco 49ers, or is he retiring in 2023? Predictions for the QB's future

After the 2022 NFL season, Tom Brady must decide what to do. It's difficult to picture Brady returning for just one season after his retirement this past offseason and subsequent unretirement less than two months later, especially given how the season has gone for him and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thus far.

Brady has three options: He may choose to remain at Tampa Bay and hope the team will throw all of its cards on the tabler to give him everything he demands, he may choose to call it a day finally or he can join another franchise to compete for another Super Bowl.

Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle questioned Brady about whether he might play for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023.

"I don't go there," Brady said. "I'm simply trying to do things correctly and see what we might be able to achieve. We have a lot of work to do and four games to sort things out."

Is retirement the best option for Tom Brady?

The decision to return after retirement will always be a riddle. Tom Brady could have retired as a Super Bowl winner in 2020. In the NFL, there was nothing more to be proved. Instead, he decided to keep pursuing more championships.

With no injuries later in the season, it seems evident that he is still performing at a level that will allow him to play into 2023. Jimmy Garoppolo will leave San Francisco after this season, and Trey Lance will likely return after a protracted injury absence.

Brady can still have a heavy influence in San Francisco next season, even if Brock Purdy has a stellar final stretch. Next season, Brady might have the opportunity to play in a potent offense with Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel.
