The XFL kicked off its third iteration on Saturday, February 18, in Arlington, Texas. The league made a comeback after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced operations to shut down in 2020 after just five weeks.

The original campaign was deemed a failure after a poor run in 2001 and was immediately closed down. Nonetheless, eight teams will be participating in the league this season. The eight cities that will host teams are Houston, San Antonio, Arlington, Orlando, Las Vegas, Seattle, St. Louis and Washington D.C.

There will be 40 regular-season games, two playoff games and one championship game. The organization is deemed to have gained value this season under WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's ownership. The 50-year-old has made substantial investments in rebooting the league, and it appears that plans are being made to expand the XFL further.

Some of the most important markets to target in US sports are New York and New Jersey. However, the league is yet to make an announcement on whether or not the expansion plans will be put into action next season.
