Tony Romo is considered to be among the best TV analysts but the former Dallas Cowboys star has often also been accused of being biased toward certain quarterbacks, especially Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes. It was seemingly on display on Sunday in the first quarter of the reigning Super Bowl champion's home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
On a 2nd-and-4 play from the six-yard line, tight end Travis Kelce shook off his defender and created enough space to catch a pass and potentially score a touchdown. Mahomes spotted the veteran and threw the ball in his direction, but surprisingly it was well short and uncatchable.
While it seemingly a missed opportunity, Romo lauded the Chiefs superstar, suggesting he floored the throw on purpose to avoid getting intercepted and dubbed his incomplete pass a "winning play."

Fans on social media were perplexed about the analyst's take and called him out for it:
Some fans accused Romo of being biased and praising a bad play simply because it was Mahomes who was responsible for it:
"This was the worst take of Romo’s career. That’s like saying I think I know the answer to the test but lemme just mark the wrong choice on purpose? Please get somebody else, CBS" - Wrote @goatmahomesqb1
"Romo realizing how full of crap he is midway through his sentence but also knowing he's in too deep with the glazing is hilarious" - Opined @YFPFP
"Burrow does this and they ask if he can pick up a water bottle" - Quipped @Chris_Roling
"Mahomes does no wrong in Romo’s eyes haha. Like ever" - Remarked @therealjayham
Patrick Mahomes' uncharacteristic outing vs. Bengals
While the defensive pass interference helped Mahomes and the Chiefs pull off the win, the quarterback will be less than pleased with his performance. He completed 18 of his 25 pass attempts but finished with only 151 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions.
It was the second-fewest passing yards he had thrown for in a game in his career, trailing only the 96 yards he finished with in the Chiefs' 30-6 blowout win over the Denver Broncos in 2019. In that game, he had completed 10 of his 11 pass attempts for 96 yards before exiting with a knee injury.
Mahomes has thrown three interceptions in his first two outings this season, which is unlike him. He'll look to rectify his turnover issue in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
