Xavien Howard lawsuit: Dolphins star being sued with woman alleging he willingly gave her incurable herpes

Miami Dolphins v Las Vegas Raiders
Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard has solved the team's cornerback needs during his time with the team. However, Howard allegedly gave something to someone they really didn't need. In a recently filed lawsuit by an unnamed woman, it claims that Howard gave her genital herpes. What's more, the woman alleges that herpes will be with her for the rest of her life.

In a court complaint, the All-Pro cornerback apparently apologized to the woman for giving her herpes:

“Maaaaan I been told you I was sorry for giving it to you. But what can I do now? The damage is done.”

The complaint goes on to discuss how Howard and the woman first met and how the Dolphins defensive star contracted gential herpes:

“Howard met the woman, identified only as Jane Doe, in February 2018 while she was working at Quest Diagnostics, and shortly after Howard asked her out on a date. Howard showed the woman a copy of an STD screening dated Feb. 5, 2018, which had all negative results."

It continues:

"In 2019, Howard learned he contracted herpes simplex virus type 2, genital herpes, the complaint says, but did not inform the woman with whom he had a relationship. He further told the woman he had been tested for STDs on other dates “and that he remained free of any sexually transmitted disease.”"

The complaint further outlines the damage the woman has suffered due to getting genital herpes:

"The woman has suffered permanent bodily injury as a result of Howard’s actions, which were “outrageous and beyond all bounds of decency in a civilized community.” She has also suffered “mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, and past and future medical expenses.”"

Xavien Howard's 2022 season with the Dolphins thus far

The Miami cornerback is leading the team with five passes defended while having 20 tackles in six games this season. In Week 4 versus the Cincinnati Bengals, he suffered a groin injury. Howard missed the Dolphins' Week 5 game against their AFC East rival, the New York Jets. This season, he has played 90 percent of the Dolphins' defensive snaps (357 snaps).

Miami travel to face the Detroit Lions in Week 8, a game they are expected to win. We will see if these revelations serve as a distraction to Howard and if the Dolphins can take home the victory.
