Ja’Marr Chase put an end to his holdout amid contract negotiation issues. Cincinnati Bengals fans rejoiced to see their wide receiver turn up to a full practice session. However, fans also pointed out a ‘told you so’ vibe.
The Bengals signed Chase to a four-year rookie contract worth $30.8 million in 2021. Before his contract even entered the final year, the franchise picked up the fifth-year option on his deal. Despite that, the player and team were negotiating for a new deal.
Chase had been visiting the camp and performing individual training drills. However, on Sunday, the 24-year-old joined the training camp fully and participated for the entire session.
“Sources: Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase practiced today. No new contract yet. But for the first time in camp, Chase was on the field.”

Even though this news spread like wildfire in the football world, Bengals fans weren’t surprised. Several highlighted their belief in the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
“Yall f--king doubted him”
“So everyone can calm down now”
“*Pretends to be shocked* This was never going into the regular season," wrote one fan.
“And the most obvious thing of all time has now happened," wrote another fan.
However, several fans stood up for Chase as well, suggesting he needs to be compensated by the franchise with a new contract.
“He shouldn’t do a thing until he gets paid," wrote one fan.
“PAY THE MAN," wrote another fan on X (previously Twitter).
Will Ja’Marr Chase continue to practice with the Bengals?
The Bengals entered their last week of training camp. With all of their preseason games behind them, the Week 1 starter looms large. As such, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reported that Ja'Marr Chase will continue to work with the team this week.
“Bengals offer photo evidence as the word is out that Ja’Marr Chase took part in practice today. Was a full participant and they expect him to practice all week, sources tell The Athletic.”
This practice session will make him available for the season opener against the New England Patriots on September 8.
