Quarterback AJ McCarron has had a successful start to his XFL career this season with the St. Louis Battlehawks. At the start of the season, the quarterback said that he pursued a career in the XFL after many years in the NFL mainly so that his children could see him play the game he loves.

On Sunday afternoon, McCarron met up with his children who were in the stands just before the start of the Battlehawks game against the Houston Roughnecks. His sons told him to 'throw good today' before he took the field to lead his team.

"You better throw good today!"

The St. Louis Battlehawks are 4-2 heading into their seventh game of the 2023 XFL season. Whether the 32-year-old quarterback tries to pursue another attempt at the National Football League next season or anytime in the future remains to be seen. However, the success he has had throughout the first six games in the XFL could and should be a resume booster for him.

How long was QB AJ McCarron in the NFL?

After winning three national championships with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, quarterback AJ McCarron declared for the NFL Draft.

He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was placed on the Injured Reserve list and didn't play his rookie season.

AJ McCarron didn't make his first NFL start until the 2015 NFL season when starting quarterback Andy Dalton suffered an injury. He would end up starting the rest of the regular season and the Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After his four-year contract ended, McCarron then became a free agent and signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2018. He was traded to the then-Oakland Raiders before the season started.

AJ was released by the Raiders after the 2018 season and then signed with the Houston Texans. After two seasons with the Texans, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. He unfortunately tore his ACL during a preseason game in 2021 and hadn't stepped on an NFL field since.
