Zach Ertz hasn't been in a Super Bowl and unless one has gone out of their way to check on the tight end over the last half-decade, they might not be aware of his continued presence in the league.

That changed on Sunday Night Football after the tight end put up six catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns. With his help, the Washington Commanders are in the playoffs.

Of course, while the Commanders won an extra game and, therefore, extra ticket sales on Sunday Night, Ertz earned his own extra money.

According to Adam Schefter, Ertz picked up a cool $750,000 based on his production in the game, which pushed him to three milestones. He earned the following:

  • $250,000 for six touchdown catches
  • $250,000 for more than 600 receiving yards
  • $250,000 for catching more than 60 passes in 2024

As such, the tight end now can add three-quarters of $1 million to his bottom line this season.

According to Spotrac, Ertz is playing on a one-year, $3 million deal that concludes after the 2024 season. As such, hitting those incentives adds a significant portion to the $1.96 million he had already been guaranteed on the deal.

Zach Ertz is working in an age-34 season and at his current age, many would not be surprised to see him hang it up. However, as his age climbs, so does his production.

The tight end has 61 catches for 610 yards and six touchdowns this season, eclipsing all of his single-season totals with one team going back to 2019. In 2019, Ertz earned 88 catches for six touchdowns. As such, while seemingly his total number of catches and receiving yardage is too low to catch his 2019 numbers, he has the chance to trend up next week.

If Dan Quinn plays the starters from Jayden Daniels to Brian Robinson Jr. and Ertz, he could earn more touchdowns in a single season than he has had since 2018, when he had eight receiving touchdowns.

Of course, with the Washington Commanders in the playoffs, Quinn might be content to rest his starters. Even if he doesn't rest all of them, Ertz seemingly would be a top candidate to be rested at age 34. Has Ertz caught his last touchdown pass in the 2024 regular season?
