Zach Wilson and Mac Jones both lost Sunday with the Jets and the Patriots, against the Raiders and the Colts, respectively. It pointed to two franchises struggling to get their offenses going and relying too much on their defenses since their quarterbacks are not playing at an elite level.
Right now, Zach Wilson and Mac Jones are as far from elite as they can be. None of them threw for a touchdown today and both of them coughed up interceptions with the game on the line. For the Patriots, it was in the fourth quarter that their starting quarterback threw the crucial pick, which saw him benched for the third time this season by Bailey Zappe.
For the Jets, it was within the two-minute warning when Robert Spillane intercepted an intended pass from their quarterback and ran it back to the midfield. Even though the Jets got the ball back later, instead of being near the endzone, they had to rely on a speculative Hail Mary attempt and that was just not enough.

Due to their similar struggles today and inability to capitalize on good situations, there was a lot of comparison between the two quarterbacks on social media.

Mac Jones gets dragged as fans criticize Zach Wilson's costly mistake against Raiders on SNF
NFL fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to mock both quarterbacks in the same breath. Here are some of the best reactions on the platform.
Mac Jones and Zach Wilson slightly different
Even though both quarterbacks threw late interceptions in their losses today, they are each failing their own way this season. The stats bear it out.
Mac Jones has over 2,000 yards in passing and has thrown 10 touchdowns. However, his problem is that he also has 10 interceptions, which is the highest in the league. Zach WIlson, on the other hand, has been much more measured but still ineffective. He has 1,600 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions.
So, the Patriots quarterback is failing because of a higher volume of interceptions but the Jets quarterback is struggling with lower amount of touchdowns. In terms of ratio, they have thrown an equal number of scoring passes to picks.
Both of had one good game this season, when their passer rating was over 100. Mac Jones was phenomenal against the Buffalo Bills and Zach Wilson was great against the Kansas City Chiefs. But overall, they have been unable to meet the needs of their franchise. The Patriots player is now on a short leash and the Jets player is merely keeping the seat warm for Aaron Rodgers.
