Zach Wilson's fiancée Nicolette pens 3-word farewell as Broncos QB stares at uncertainty in free agency

Denver Broncos backup quarterback Zach Wilson will enter free agency for the first time in his NFL career this offseason. After the Broncos were eliminated by the Buffalo Bills in the AFC wild-card round, Wilson's offseason has officially started.

On Tuesday morning, Wilson's fiancée, Nicolette Dellanno, shared a post of the mountainous terrain of Denver at sunrise. In her Instagram story, she added a short caption, indicating that it was goodbye but that they would be back.

Zach Wilson was traded by the New York Jets last offseason and spent the 2024 NFL season as the backup to rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

The Denver Broncos could bring him back as a backup in 2025, considering he already knows the offense, and that would be a valuable asset. Otherwise, another NFL team may give Wilson an opportunity in a starting role.

Going from a starting quarterback to a backup quarterback isn't an easy transition. Zach Wilson has handled it in stride after being traded to the Broncos last summer. After Denver's loss on Sunday afternoon, starting quarterback Bo Nix's wife, Izzy, sent a special shoutout to Wilson and fellow backup Jarrett Stidham.

In an Instagram post, Izzy Nix thanked the quarterbacks for supporting Bo during his rookie season.

"Will never find the words for this qb room & what they mean to us. They were in our corner from start to finish and believed in Bo, when they certainly didn't have to," Izzy wrote.

It remains to be seen if the Denver Broncos quarterback room will remain intact heading into the 2025 NFL season. With the resurgence of former backup quarterbacks like Sam Darnold and Geno Smith, there may be interest in signing Zach Wilson.
