NFC Championship game scenario if Philadelphia Eagles lose to the New York Giants

New York Giants v Philadelphia Eagles
Kyron Johnson #58 of the Philadelphia Eagles pressures Jamie Gillan #6 of the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on January 08, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the New York Giants in an NFC Divisional Round battle. The matchup is between two sides that couldn't be any more different in playing style but have arrived at this stage in the 2022 - 2023 NFL season.

The two teams come into this game with varying forms, as the Eagles have gone 7-3 in their last ten games while winning a meager three games out of their past ten. So what's the NFC Championship game scenario if the lesser-favored Giants beat the better-favored Eagles?

It's pretty straightforward in the more unpredictable conference in the NFL. If the Philadelphia Eagles lose to New York, the San Francisco-Dallas winner will host the NFC title game next weekend.

The New York Giants are the lowest-ranked seed remaining in the NFC Conference, so they would need a way to host the NFC Conference Championship game.

How have the Philadelphia Eagles performed this season?

The Philadelphia Eagles have been incredible all season long and are one of the most pleasant surprises in the National Football League. Not many people expected the team to comfortably make the playoffs this season, more so bag the number one seed in a super competitive NFC Conference.

They achieved this thanks to awesome performances from Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, and many more fantastic pieces.

The Eagles earned the number one seed by posting a 14-3 record for the season. Their only losses came against the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints, with the last two coming in games without Jalen Hurts.

How has the New York Giants performed this season?

The New York Giants, on the other hand, have had an up-and-down season, which still superseded expectations. Analysts pegged the team to be a rebuilding franchise, but their coaching staff had other plans.

Buoyed by solid performances from Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and other top-notch pieces, the Giants made the 2023 NFL Playoffs with a 9-7-1 record.

They will play against an Eagles side that beat them twice in the 2022 NFL season. They might be up against it, but writing off the Giants in the playoffs would be silly. Just ask the 2000s New England Patriots.
