The 2024 NFL Combine will commence on Monday, February 26, and run through March 4. This year's affair will feature college prospects from across the country taking part in mental and physical drills at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Events like the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and bench press are usually the focus of the combine. Here, we take a look at some of the NFL Combine records that have been set over the years.

#1. 40-yard dash
- Record holder: John Ross, WR, 2017 (Since Electronic timing began in 1999)
- Time: 4.22 seconds

Some reports suggest that running back Bo Jackson completed the 40-yard dash in 4.12 seconds at the combine in 1986. Meanwhile, defensive back Deion Sanders was reportedly clocked at 4.2 seconds in 1989. However, officially John Ross holds the record for the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Bench press
- Record holder: Justin Ernest, DT, 1999
- Repetitions (225 pounds): 51
In 1999, defensive tackle Justin Ernest set the record for the most bench presses at the NFL Combine with 51. That record still stands to this date and it will be interesting to see if anyone can break it.
Vertical jump
- Record holder: Gerald Sensabaugh, S, 2005
- Height: 46.0"
In 2005, defensive back Gerald Sensabaugh set the record of the highest vertical jump with 46.0" and that record hasn't been surpassed till now.
Broad jump
- Record holder: Byron Jones, DB, 2015
- Length: 12'3"
When it comes to the broad jump, that record was recently set by Byron Jones in 2015 as he recorded a length of 12'3'' in it.
Three-cone drill
- Record holder: J.T. Thomas, CB, 2018
- Time: 6.28 seconds
In the three-cone drill, cornerback J.T. Thomas' time in 2018 is still the record. He completed the drill in 6.28 seconds/
60-yard shuttle
- Record holder: Shelton Gibson, WR, 2017
- Time: 10.71 seconds
Wide receiver Shelton Gibson set the new record for the 60-yard shuttle in 2017 when he completed it in 10.71 seconds. Some of these records could get broken in the near future as the level of athletes entering the league is increasing every year.
