With bye weeks here in Week 6 of the NFL season, fantasy football owners are now faced with some tough decisions, even at the kicker position.
This is generally a position that only adds booster points, rather than game-changing scores. But kickers are still an important aspect of a fantasy football team.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Kickers: Start 'Em
Nick Folk – New England Patriots vs. Cleveland Browns
Nick Folk is a reliable kicker and is 9/10 for field goal attempts in the 2022 NFL season thus far. The New England Patriots’ Week 6 clash with the Cleveland Browns could be a tightly contested affair.
Both teams like to pound the ball and run. This generally sets up a close-encounter, which often sees more field goals scored than touchdowns. This is music to fantasy football players’ ears and you can expect Folk to score crucial points for you on Sunday.
Justin Tucker – Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Giants
Justin Tucker is rated as the best kicker in the NFL, and his fantasy football numbers speak for themselves. He is the fourth-ranked kicker in the NFL this season, scoring 52 fantasy points. Tucker is just 10 fantasy football points away from leading kicker Daniel Carlson of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Baltimore Ravens and the New York Giants could play out a close game. A resurgent Giants defense could cause problems for the Ravens. Whilst not spectacular, the fact that New York have the fifth-best ranked defense in terms of third-down conversions allowed is relevant.
It could well be a busy night for Justin Tucker. Expect him to attempt several field goals and his accurate history suggests it could be a big week for his fantasy football owners.
Cameron Dicker – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
Cameron Dicker was THE story of Week 5 in the NFL. After an injury to regular Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, Dicker entered the fray. The rookie had no experience in the NFL at all, yet he was named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week. He successfully converted both of his field goal attempts, including a game-winning kick in the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals.
Elliott is still classed as questionable to return against the Dallas Cowboys, and Dicker could well be given another shot. He is the NFL’s hottest leg right now, and the exceptional Dallas defense could force a lot of field goal opportunities.
Week 6 Fantasy Football Kickers: Sit 'Em
Matt Gay – Los Angeles Rams vs. Carolina Panthers
Matt Gay has been one of the clutch kickers in the NFL, although this is more down to the Los Angeles Rams’ stuttering offense. Having scored 35 fantasy points through Week 5, Matt Gay is a player who should be dropped in Week 6.
The logic behind this is the fact that the Rams are going against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are having a horrendous season and are one of the worst teams in the league. If the Rams’ offense can’t get motoring in this matchup, then there isn’t any hope for them. Matt Gay won’t get as many field goal chances so sit him on the bench.
Harrison Butker – Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills
The Kansas City Chiefs score a lot of touchdowns. The Buffalo Bills score a lot of touchdowns. When the two teams face each other, there are a lot of touchdowns scored. Sunday’s Week 6 game is mouthwatering for the neutral. It could be yet another classic between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
However, this doesn’t do much to boost the scores of the kickers involved. Harrison Butker has had an injury-hit season in Kansas City in 2022, but he is penciled in to return against Buffalo. Don’t expect him to get too many chances to score fantasy points though. This will be a game for the quarterbacks and wide receivers … not the kickers.
Jason Myers – Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals
As mentioned with regards to Butker, the clash between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals is also not one designed for kickers. Jason Myers of the Seahawks should be put on the bench in Week 6, irrespective of his 88.9% field goal success rate in 2022.
Unlike the Chiefs-Bills, this is a meeting between two truly abysmal defenses. Neither team will be able to keep players out of the endzone. Don’t anticipate many field goals from either side. Myers will have limited chances to influence your fantasy football tally and should be dropped on Sunday.
