Fantasy Football is a game of skill and outsmarting your opponent, and kickers are becoming a much more important part of that ahead of Week 9.
Kickers are traditionally the last position selected on a fantasy football team, with players often electing to pick whoever is available. However, with a little forethought, you can actually gameplan for the position and pick any kicker you want on a weekly basis for virtually no cost.
Ahead of Week 9, Justin Tucker and Jason Myers led the way for kickers in fantasy football. Daniel Carlson has slipped further behind after an abject Week 8 for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Before you finalize your fantasy football selection for Week 9, you need to analyze just who the best options at kicker are. Here are some of the best available fantasy football kickers in Week 9:

Justin Tucker – Baltimore Ravens @ New Orleans Saints
A solid performance in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw Justin Tucker score eight points and hold his position as the best kicker in fantasy football. He is the highest scorer in his position through the first eight weeks of the 2022 NFL season and his tally currently stands at 82 fantasy points.
Week 9 will see the Baltimore Ravens travel to New Orleans to face a Saints team that is in fantastic form. Given the Ravens’ defensive struggles, it’s difficult to see them being able to put the Saints on the backfoot too often.
It could well be a game that forces the Ravens to rely on Tucker from distance, which could mean a big week in terms of fantasy football points.
The Saints have allowed the third highest number of field goal attempts per game with 2.38 in 2022. This is something that Justin Tucker will punish them for on Monday (Nov. 7).
Jason Myers – Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals
Jason Myers was only the 19th ranked kicker in fantasy football points in Week 8. His return of six points for the Seattle Seahawks wasn’t anything special, but he remains tied with Tucker as the leading kicker in the NFL.
In the eight weeks that have been played to this point, Myers has a total of 82 fantasy football points and will look to improve upon that in Week 9.
The Seahawks are finding their wings on offense ahead of this game. Geno Smith is having a career-year, surprising all of his doubters, and Myers will most likely score points against an Arizona Cardinals team that lacks consistency.
You can rely on the Seahawks kicker regardless of the situation. He just shades Tucker in terms of accuracy, hitting 94.4% of his attempted field goals in 2022, and he averages 10.3 fantasy points per game.
Ryan Succop – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams
Ryan Succop is ranked third due to availability. With the New York Giants on a bye week, you’re going to have to lose Graham Gano.
Succop boasts a 95% success rate from 20 attempted field goals through eight games in 2022 and has scored a total of 76 fantasy football points.
He is one of the ever-present performers in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has yet to find top gear. The Bucs lost a close game to the Baltimore Ravens in Thursday Night Football, but Succop was as good as ever, netting 10 fantasy football points.
There isn’t a kicker in the NFL who has made as many field goals as Succop in 2022. The Los Angeles Rams have allowed 1.71 field goal successes per game, which also suggests that the Buccaneers kicker will get enough chances to score fantasy points.
Younghoe Koo – Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Younghoe Koo has shot up to fourth on this list as a result of an outstanding individual performance in Week 8 and bye weeks impacting other kickers.
On quite a sensational afternoon, Koo put the Carolina Panthers to the sword, scoring a game-winning field goal in overtime to deliver the victory to his team.
In Week 8, Koo registered a total of 14 fantasy football points, his best performance of the season to date. It earned him plaudits from his Atlanta Falcons teammates, not least QB Marcus Mariota, who said:
“I can’t explain how valuable he is, not only to this team but really to football, right?”
The Los Angeles Chargers have allowed two successful field goal attempts per game this season and will likely give Koo chances to thrive in Week 9. If you believe in the ‘hot leg’ theory, it would make sense to add the Falcons kicker to your fantasy lineup.
Koo made every single kick he attempted in Week 8 and form like that tends to last.
Daniel Carlson – Las Vegas Raiders @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Daniel Carlson has been the statistical leading kicker throughout the 2022 NFL season, but Week 8 will be one he hopes to forget.
He might as well have not turned up for the Las Vegas Raiders' game against the New Orleans Saints.
As the Raiders put up an embarrassing goose egg against the Saints, Carlson didn’t attempt a single field goal or extra point. This ensured his fantasy points return was zero.
When deciding on whether to drop Carlson from a fantasy team, you need to base the decision on his team rather than his individual work. That might sound counter-intuitive, but he has a 100% success rate from field goals through Week 8 and has missed just one extra point.
He has a total of 72 fantasy points despite playing only seven games, and if he gets a chance to kick on the field, he will score you points. The only question mark is whether the Raiders offense is good enough to get him into those positions against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
