Next Week: vs. Cleveland Browns
The New England Patriots are beginning to turn into that tough team that Bill Belichick envisioned before.
They are on their third straight win and could climb even further in the power rankings with a win against the Cleveland Browns next week. This Patriots team may be a dark horse playoff candidate.
#8 - Cincinnati Bengals - (5-4)
Previous Rank: 2
Next Week: bye
Falling six spots may seem a bit unfair to the Bengals, but they have lost two straight, and their blowout loss to the Browns may reveal more about their team than they had hoped. The Bengals will need to bounce back in a big way after their bye week to avoid plummeting even further in the playoff race and power rankings.
#7 - Las Vegas Raiders - (5-3)
Previous rank: 6
Next Week: vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Las Vegas Raiders cannot seem to catch a break. They have lost Jon Gruden, Henry Ruggs III, and now Damon Arnette. All three were forced out of the team due to some high controversy, and now the Raiders will need to figure out where their team goes from here.
#6 - Cleveland Browns - (5-4)
Previous Rank: 6
Next Week: vs. New England Patriots
The Cleveland Browns may have been stuck in a distraction phase due to dealing with the drama of former wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Now with him released, the Browns have turned back into a winning team. Their dismantling of the Cincinnati Bengals was a great way to reignite their winning ways and stay put for this week's power rankings.
#5 - Los Angeles Chargers - (5-3)
Previous Rank: 8
Next Week: vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Los Angeles Chargers got a much-needed win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Justin Herbert seemed to be his old self after posting 356 yards and 2 TDs. They will need to keep winning to get a wildcard spot in the stacked upper levels of the AFC and the power rankings.
#4 - Pittsburgh Steelers - (5-3)
Previous Rank: 7
Next Week: vs. Detroit Lions
The Pittsburgh Steelers now have wins over the Bears, Browns, Seahawks, and Broncos. It is no easy feat, and they have seemed to find the right foot forward. That, and the way that T.J. Watt and Najee Harris continue to play, will allow the Steelers to turn back into playoff contenders. They have jumped heavily in this week's power rankings.
#3 - Buffalo Bills - (5-3)
Previous Rank: 4
Next Week: vs. New York Giants
Any Given Sunday is a phrase that quite literally means that on any given Sunday, your team may lose. That's what happened when the Bills were humbled by the Jacksonville Jaguars. They still have the best points differential in the league, and should return to their dominant ways soon. They keep their spot in the top five of this week's power rankings.
#2 - Baltimore Ravens - (6-2)
Previous Rank: 3
Next Week: vs. Miami Dolphins
Getting blown away by the Bengals may have also humbled the Ravens. They beat the Vikings and look to log an easy win against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. The Ravens still have one of the best rushing attacks in the league as they stay in the top three of this week's power rankings.
#1 - Tennesee Titans - (7-2)
Previous Rank: 1
Next Week: vs. New Orleans Saints
The Titans sit alone at the top of this week's power rankings. Many believed they would be a lost team without Derrick Henry, but Adrian Peterson has settled into his new role just fine.
Beating the would-be Super Bowl favorite Rams puts them in number one spot, for at least another week.
