Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is reportedly set to receive a mega contract extension this off-season. All signs point to the team reaching a huge deal with the star receiver.
While Jefferson is under contract this season and next, he will become a free agent in the 2025 off-season. He’s eligible to sign an extension with the team this off-season and the two have begun preliminary talks.
According to Alec Lewis, the Minnesota Vikings beat writer for The Athletic, a $160 million contract with $80 million guaranteed is fitting for Jefferson. The projected contract would make Jefferson the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.

Jefferson is the best player on the Vikings roster and quite possibly the best receiver in the NFL. He led the league this past season in receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,809) and scored eight touchdowns while being named the Offensive Player of the Year.
In three seasons, Jefferson has recorded 324 receptions, 4,825 yards and 25 TDs. He could be the next wide receiver to break the bank this off-season and become the highest-paid receiver in the NFL.
While Justin Jefferson is expected to sign a mega-extension, Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill signed record-breaking deals last off-season
Last off-season, the wide receiver market was reset. The first domino fell when the Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agent wide receiver Christian Kirk to a massive four-year $72 million contract. This made other top receivers such as D.K. Metcalf, Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin, Davante Adams, A.J. Brown, and Tyreek Hill demand more money.
Adams and Hill were both traded to new teams while signing record-breaking deals. Adams signed a five-year, $140 million deal with $65.67 million in guarantees with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tyreek Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins last off-season and signed a record-breaking contract. He inked a four-year, $120 million contract, which is $30m per year, the highest in NFL history for a wide receiver.
While the salary cap has increased this off-season, it will allow players who are due for big contract extensions to earn more money. Jefferson could become the first receiver to get paid more than $30 million per season if he signs his mega-extension.
