The 2023 Draft class is shaping up to be an interesting one when it comes to the quarterback position. When it comes to ranking quarterback prospects, one draft analyst has a shocking player that they feel is the second-best quarterback in the 2023 class.
Daniel Jeremiah commented that University of Florida star Anthony Richardson is among the best signal-callers in this year's NFL Draft. The NFL Network analyst added that Richardson possesses a high ceiling with some 'big-time ability.'
The Gators quarterback started 12 games for the team last season, throwing for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He was also third on the team with 649 rushing yards and second with nine touchdowns. The sophomore signal-caller could go as high as the top 10 in the draft with some notable quarterbacks going ahead of him.

These quarterbacks include Bryce Young of Alabama, C.J. Stroud of Ohio State and even Will Levis of Kentucky. The question is how high will the Gators go in the draft?
Which team does Jeremiah have Richardson going to in the 2023 Draft?
In his most recent mock draft, Jeremiah had Richardson going to the Detroit Lions, who currently hold the 18th overall pick in the 2023 Draft. He explains why the Lions might select the Gators star.
Jeremiah said:
“The Lions have the perfect situation for Richardson as he enters the league. He can sit behind Jared Goff for at least a year and then provide the rewards that come from building a team around a quarterback playing on his rookie contract.”
Richardson has been compared to another SEC quarterback, Cam Newton. Like Newton, the University of Florida star has size, standing at six-foot-four and 236 pounds with the ability to make plays both within and outside the pocket.
One possible downside is that of his completion percentage, which was 53.8 per cent. It was 12th amongst quarterbacks in the SEC last year.
Nonetheless, NFL teams could be lining up to nab the Gainesville, Florida native in the 2023 Draft as a game-changing franchise quarterback. We'll see which team will call his name come April.
