NFL Rushing Leaders: Who has the most rushing yards heading into Week 12?

Tennessee Titans v Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry

Many superstars are among the NFL rushing leaders entering Week 12 of the 2022 NFL season. The list is headlined by Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry. This should come as no surprise to NFL fans as Henry has been one of the most dominant players in the league over the last several years.

Derrick Henry has won the rushing title in two of the last three seasons. He was well on his way to potentially winning a third consecutive rushing title during the 2021 season before a foot injury suddenly cut his campaign short. He still rushed for 937 yards, despite only playing in eight games, while leading the league in rushing yards per game.

Henry has an excellent chance of winning his third rushing title in the last four years as he currently leads the way in rushing yards entering Week 12 of the 2022 season. He has already accumulated 1,010 rushing yards across his first ten games. He is the first and only player in the NFL so far to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards this season.

It should also come as no surprise that Derrick Henry is currently leading the league in rushing yards per game again this year. He is the only player currently averaging more than 100 rushing yards per game. He also leads the way with 230 carries, while ranking third with ten rushing touchdowns. Only Jamaal Williams and Nick Chubb have scored more rushing touchdowns so far.

In addition to pursuing his third rushing title, Henry also has a chance to become the first player in NFL history to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards in a season more than once. He is already one of only eight players ever to do it once. He achieved the historic milestone during the 2020 season.

Can Derrick Henry eclipse 2,000 rushing yards again during the 2022 NFL season?

Derrick Henry is currently on pace to record 1,818 rushing yards during the 2022 season entering Week 12. He is behind the pace to become the first player ever to record multiple 2,000 rushing-yard seasons, but it's not too late for him to make up the difference.

Henry still has seven games left in the 2022 regular season and needs 990 rushing yards to meet that goal. He'll need to average 142 rushing yards per game the rest of the way to get back to 2,000 yards. It's a difficult task, but if any running back can do it, it's Derrick Henry.
