The Dallas Cowboys are well positioned through seven games of the season. Sitting at 5-2 (third in the NFC East), Dallas is trending the right way. Oh, and they have Dak Prescott back for good measure.
With other teams, and specifically the Philadelphia Eagles making moves (signing Robert Quinn), some think that Jerry Jones will want to make an equally splashy play before the Nov. 1 trade deadline. But who should the Cowboys be targeting?
Here are three players the Cowboys could sign before the trade deadline:
#3 - WR Denzel Mims

The 25-year-old from the New York Jets presents a really viable option for Jerry Jones. With most of the Cowboys issues coming from their receivers, getting Mims will likely not cost them much, perhaps a sixth- or seventh-round pick.
There is no risk with the potential being highly rewarding. While the chances of acquiring D.J. Moore are simply not fathomable given his wage, Mims is a good alternative. Having only played one game this season after making his frustrations known, Mims could be a cheap option and has huge upside.
#2 - LB Roquan Smith
This one is unlikely, but what a move it could be. Adding perhaps the best linebacker in the NFL to a defense that already has serious talent. Imagine Smith and Micah Parsons along with Anthony Barr and DeMarcus Lawrence.
The issue is going to be; one, what Dallas has to give up, and two, what type of money Smith would require. We know that Jerry Jones is reluctant to splash big, but in Smith's case, he could well be worth it.
Smith could be the Cowboys' linebacker for the next six to seven years. While the deal would be extremely hard to pull off, Jerry is a master negotiator.
#1 - WR Jerry Jeudy
This one has popped up a lot recently and the more you look at it, the better it gets for Dallas. Needing help at the receiver position with both CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup struggling a bit, adding a third receiver like Jeudy is an interesting thought.
Jeudy is still on his rookie contract, so his wage demands will not break Dallas' bank and he his versatile. It's something that Kellen Moore loves in his receiving group.
If there is one receiver the Cowboys should target (other than Odell Beckham Jr., although the price will be steep), it's Jeudy.
