Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season includes an interesting mix of players on top of each of the statistical categories. Some of the stat leaders so far have been players who were expected to have strong seasons, while others are a bit surprising. Here's how the stat leaders stack up.

Passing Yards

  • 1. Geno Smith - 1,985
  • 2. Baker Mayfield - 1,859

Geno Smith had a disappointing season last year but has bounced back in a big way in 2024 so far. He currently leads all players in passing yards entering Week 8 and has helped the Seattle Seahawks to a solid 4-3 record.

Passing TDs

  • T-2. Lamar Jackson - 15
  • T-2. Jordan Love - 15

Baker Mayfield is putting up NFL MVP caliber numbers with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season. He currently leads all players in touchdowns, while also having the second-most passing yards.

Rushing Yards

  • 1. Derrick Henry - 873
  • 2. Jordan Mason - 667
  • 3. Saquon Barkley - 658

Derrick Henry has absolutely dominated the rushing yards leaders entering Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season. Jordan Mason is in second place, but he trails Henry by more than 200 yards already. His transition to the Baltimore Ravens has payed off for him.

In addition to leading the NFL in rushing yards, Derrick Henry is also tied with Kyren Williams for the most rushing touchdowns this season. They are averaging more than one per game with eight scores through seven weeks.

Receiving Yards

Ja'Marr Chase is having another excellent season with the Cincinnati Bengals as he has a comfortable lead in receiving yards entering Week 8. Chris Godwin is his closest contender, but he unfortunately suffered an injury last week.

Like Derrick Henry in rushing, Ja'Marr Chase leads all players in receiving yards and is tied for the lead in touchdowns. He and Mike Evans have both caught six touchdowns so far.

Sacks

  • 1. Dexter Lawrence II - 9
  • 2. Will McDonald IV - 8
  • 3. Aidan Hutchinson - 7.5

Dexter Lawrence II leads the NFL in sacks entering Week 8 and has impressively done so as an interior defensive lineman. He is the only primary defensive tackle with more than four sacks this season.
