The San Francisco 49ers, already without a few key players, designated defensive end Nick Bosa as a limited practice participant on Thursday due to a rib injury. The 49ers lost wide receiver Deebo Samuel to a calf injury in Week 2 and placed running back Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles tendinitis) on injured reserve.
Following their full participation on Wednesday, tight end George Kittle and cornerback Charvarius Ward also did not participate in practice for the team on Thursday.
The growing worry about key players' injuries is frustrating for the San Francisco 49ers, who are already getting ready for their Week 3 road game at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams.

Nick Bosa injury update: What happened to the 49ers' DE?
Due to a rib injury, edge rusher Nick Bosa has become the latest player added to the San Francisco 49ers' long injury list. The cause of Bosa's injury is still unknown, but he was limited in Thursday's practice.
The fact that Bosa was limited at least indicates the injury is not exceedingly serious. However, the team has not yet updated whether he will play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Regardless, head coach Kyle Shanahan is set to brief the media on the defensive end's status on Friday. By then, a clear idea of how Nick Bosa is feeling will be known.
After entering the NFL in 2019, Nick Bosa made two trips to the Super Bowl, but he's still yet to win a championship. He started 17 games last season and totaled 53 tackles, including 34 solo tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and four passes defensed. Last year, he also recorded the most passes defended in his career.
Bosa has participated in 70 games and started 68 of them in his career. He has 216 total tackles in those games, including 115 solo tackles, 55.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and eight passes defensed.
Even the Rams are sweating over injuries to key players coming into this weekend. Pro Bowl receivers Cooper Kupp (ankle), Puka Nacua (knee), offensive lineman Steve Avila (knee) and Jonah Jackson (shoulder) are among those who may miss the game.
