Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has been sidelined since the second week of last season due to a left knee injury he sustained against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He reportedly underwent two different knee surgeries to mend his meniscus, medial collateral ligament, anterior cruciate ligament and medial capsule.
Chubb's injury affected his left knee, the same one he suffered a serious injury to during his sophomore season at the University of Georgia in 2015.
Chubb was initially placed on the PUP list to begin the 2024 season and was expected to return after Week 4, but he was ultimately declared out for Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. He was found ineligible for Week 6 despite having participated in many limited practice sessions leading up to the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nick Chubb injury update: When will the Browns' RB return?
According to Browns source Mary Kay Cabot, Nick Chubb is expected to play in Cleveland's Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The report has also been corroborated by Daniel Oyefusi, the Cleveland Browns' reporter for ESPN.
"His 21-day practice window is narrowing, and he’s expected to come bolting out of the tunnel next week against the Bengals and play for the first time since suffering the injury," via Mary Kay Cabot.
Nick Chubb's fantasy football outlook
Now that Chubb is projected to return to action in Week 7, fantasy football managers have yet another strong option at running back. Deshaun Watson at quarterback raises serious questions about the team's offensive capabilities, but Chubb is still a valuable fantasy player.
It is strongly advised that fantasy managers select Chubb straight away if he can be obtained on waivers. For those who were able to draft him and keep him for so long, it's time to reap the benefits.
Nick Chubb was one of the league's top running backs before he got hurt. He started all 17 of the Browns' games in 2022, averaging 89.7 rushing yards per game and 12 touchdowns.
It won't hurt to give the 28-year-old RB the benefit of the doubt early, even though his severe knee injury may prevent him from being as prolific as he once was, especially in the first few games back.
