Even though a career marked by inconsistency, the highs of Nick Foles have surpassed even the wildest expectations placed upon him.
After spending one year at Michigan State, he transferred over and became a competitor for the success position with Matt Scott. When he initially lost the position, he soon gained it back. As a redshirt junior, he was the unquestioned starter and led the Wildcats to a 7-1 start. However, injury caused him to miss a portion of the season and he made his return in the 2011 season. He enjoyed a strong season, finishing first in the Pac-12 conference for total offense generated per game.
Nick Foles was a third-round selection for the Philadelphia Eagles. He broke through in his sophomore campaign under a new head coach. His historic season to have the second-greatest touchdown-interception ratio in NFL history, while also leading the league in passer rating with the 3rd highest in NFL history. He led the Eagles to a playoff berth, their first in three years, and was awarded the “NFL Greatness on the Road” award for a seven-touchdown, perfect game performance. He was also named to his first Pro Bowl and won the Pro Bowl Offensive MVP Award.
The start of the 2015 season saw the Eagles trade Foles to the St Louis Rams. However, a mediocre season followed by the Rams' drafting of quarterback Jared Goff with the first overall pick led to Foles asking for a release. Eventually, he found his way over to the Kansas City Chiefs, but his diminished play forced the Chiefs to decline his second-year option. As fate would have it, Nick found his way back to the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of the 2017 season. And what a story of redemption it was.
While he was initially going to be backup for Carson Wentz, Nick came in for the starting quarterback after the latter tore his ACL. In the playoffs, however, Nick was sensational as he led the team to victories over the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings en route to a Super Bowl. However, his crowning achievement was Super Bowl LII. He became the first player to both throw and catch a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl, joining the likes of John Elway and Jim Kelly as the only quarterbacks to catch a touchdown in a Super Bowl. As a result, the Eagles overcame the New England Patriots and won the Super Bowl. Foles for his exceptional play and three passing touchdowns, apart from the caught touchdown, was named the MVP of the game.
Nick Foles’ Height
Nick Foles has a recorded height of 6 feet and 6 inches or 1.98 meters. Nicholas Edward Foles was born on January 20th, 1989, in Austin Texas. After spending a large majority of his childhood, including his high school in the area, Foles made his way to the University of Arizona but not before a short stint at Michigan State. While way above the average height of a quarterback, it hasn’t translated into a significant advantage for Foles. Instead, it has led to him becoming a prime target for attacks leading to various injuries throughout his career.
While Foles’ height should provide him an advantage, it has been a significant notch for his highs, which were extremely unprecedented. After relative mediocrity throughout his collegiate and rookie season in the NFL, he exploded with one of the greatest statistical seasons with the second-highest TD-INT ratio and the third-highest passer rating of all-time leading to a Pro Bowl selection. Then, after enjoying some underwhelming seasons, he returned to the Eagles. And even though he was a backup, he exploded into the playoffs and became The record holder for the highest playoff career completion percentage, while also becoming the only player in Super Bowl history to both catch and throw a touchdown pass.
But overall, his career has been average. At his peak, however, he was up there with the best of them.
