Nico Collins was on track to have yet another career year before he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. The Houston Texans promptly placed the veteran wide receiver on the injured reserve.
The Texans have gone 2-2 in Collins' absence, but at least they can now activate him off the injured reserve. Ahead of their Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions, let's take a look at Collins' current injury status.
Nico Collins' injury status
According to the Texans Wire, Nico Collins has missed the first two training sessions in the lead-up to Week 10. Furthermore, the elusive pass catcher has not been activated off the injury report by the Texans ahead of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Due to the nature of Collins' injury, he must participate in at least one training session before the Lions game. Hence, Collins has just Friday's training session to prove that he's fit enough to take active contact on the Gridiron.
Hence, it's looking increasingly unlikely that Collins will make his return to the Gridiron in Week 10. It'll be surprising to see Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans rush him back to action due to the tricky nature of hamstring injuries in professional sports.
How has Nico Collins performed this season?
Before suffering the hamstring injury, Nico Collins was playing arguably the best football of his professional career. The Michigan Wolverines product showed the league that he was the team's true WR1 despite the arrival of Stefon Diggs, racking up 32 receptions, 567 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in five games. He has since spent the last four games in the treatment section.
The Houston Texans need Collins back on the Gridiron as soon as possible due to Stefon Diggs' season-ending injury. Their once deep wide receiver room now contains just Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, and John Metchie III. The sooner Collins is back in action, the sooner C. J. Stroud can return to his Pro Bowl form.
