A top-quality draft prospect in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is Penn State Nittany Lion, Olu Fashanu. He is an offensive lineman playing mostly the left tackle position who has garnered tremendous interest from scouts, experts, and team owners alike.

Fashanu has all the necessary attributes to make it as a starter in most of the NFL teams today even though there is always room for improvement, especially in the professional league that is the NFL. Nevertheless, Fashanu displays excellent grip strength which is tough for defenders to negotiate once he gets it locked in. He has also shown good football IQ allowing him to rarely get caught off guard.

A player who is said to have a high ceiling and one who should get better and better in the NFL is one that many teams will have on their radar. Moreover, Fashanu’s name can be found going in the first round in most mock drafts for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Olu Fashanu sacks allowed

Fashanu has played around 680 pass-protection snaps over the course of his two years as a starter for the Penn State Nittany Lions in which he didn’t allow a single sack. This remarkable achievement is nothing short of extraordinary play, focus, and execution against defenders hungry to get after the quarterback.

When it comes to an offensive lineman, it is very hard to judge them, especially for common fans and general viewers of the game since this is literally the only position on the field that does not have easily noticeable stats, unlike the other positions.

If we are to take into account just how good this stat of Fashanu is from his college career, we can come to the realization that he played 281 pass-blocking snaps from 8 starts in his junior year without giving away a sack and then did better in his senior year by playing in 365 pass blocking snaps from 12 starts and still allowed no sacks.

Olu Fashanu College

The outstanding O-lineman attended Penn State University from 2020 to 2023. During his true freshman year in 2020, Fashanu did not get a chance to take the field for the Nittany Lions leading to him redshirting that season. However, the next year as a redshirt freshman, Fashanu received one start and played in nine games playing the tackle position.

Things really picked up for the Maryland native in 2022, his sophomore year of college as he started 8 games in which he performed exceptionally well protecting his signal caller to the best of his ability until injury forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Continuing his excellent showing from the previous year, Fashanu returned to college football as a junior and once again dominated the defensive linemen, not giving an inch at the left tackle position. He was also named a team captain in his last year of college.
