Patrick Mahomes once cashed in a $338,000 Ferrari after buying stake in billion-dollar KC franchise

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has loved the franchise and the city since the day he got to Kansas. It's where he got his first NFL contract, his first Ferrari, and more.

Former NFL safety Louis Riddick took to X in July 2020 to celebrate Patrick Mahomes' newly bought car, as reported by Chiefs Wire. He tweeted,

“Look what the man who I call the Ferrari just got 🔥🔥🤷🏾‍♂️.... @PatrickMahomes”

The picture showcased a silver Ferrari 812 Superfast. The supercar starts at $338,000, according to Car and Driver, with a 788-horsepower V-12 engine.

The purchase correlated with his purchase of a stake in the MLB's Kansas City Royals.

Kansas City Royals announce Patrick Mahomes as part-owner

Patrick Mahomes is one of the youngest stakeholders in the Royals, owned by John Sherman. The team was founded in 1969 and won the 1985 and 2015 World Series. The franchise is currently valued at $1.225 billion (Forbes).

Mahomes got the financials to make the move after signing a record $503 million contract with the Chiefs after the 2020 season.

In a press release after the Royals ownership announcement, Mahomes said,

“I'm honored to become a part-owner of the Kansas City Royals. I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I'm excited to do.”

Patrick Mahomes plans to stay in Kansas City for long

In 2019, during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel’s SNL show, Mahomes raved about the city he's playing in. He thanked the crowd and said,

"It's definitely crazy, but at the same time, you love it. Kansas City is such an amazing city, and they've really embraced me coming there. I love being there. I love being a part of the community and part of that organization."

Mahomes didn't lie. After winning the Super Bowl in 2020, he negotiated his latest contract, promising the franchise 10 more years.
