Christmas Eve is approaching, and Patrick Mahomes is excited. However, the NFL expects massive TV viewership during the festive season, and thus the schedule always features the best teams. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas. While this may be happy news for fans, it costs him precious time with his family on Wednesday.

However, the two-time NFL MVP doesn’t mind such games if they help the Chiefs move closer to another Super Bowl. His stance has remained consistent over the years, as reported by Chiefs Wire in December 2020 when he talked about his only (pro football) wish for Christmas:

“I just want another win and then try to find a way to another Super Bowl ring,” Mahomes said.

Patrick Mahomes misses his family on Christmas Eve

Patrick Mahomes won his first Super Bowl in the 2019 season, defeating the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs went on to win in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. They are on the verge of achieving a historic Super Bowl hat trick this season.

Despite the excitement of the games, Mahomes still misses spending time with his family during the holidays. In the same report, Mahomes shared that he wanted to spend Christmas Eve with his family but couldn’t due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

“Yeah, it’s going to be different. I do not have any of my family up. It’ll just be me and Brittany (Matthews) and (brother) Jackson (Mahomes),” he said.

On Christmas Eve, Mahomes was busy as the Chiefs prepared to face the Atlanta Falcons with hopes of clinching the AFC’s top seed. Yet, Mahomes wasn’t present at all the practice sessions because he had another important matter to attend to.

Mahomes' foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, awarded grants to charitable organizations under their “15 for 15” program. The quarterback takes great pride in his foundation and its charitable work, as he expressed during a news conference before the game.

“Yeah, well, as far as the giving part, being able to see the smile on people’s faces in the community, I think, is its own present in its own,” Mahomes said.
“The fact that I’ve been able to get blessed, so many opportunities and been helped out by so many people in this community and the communities that I’ve grown up in, I want to be able to give back just as much and so just trying to provide opportunities for everyone to get and receive whatever they want.”

Mahomes later thanked the community and emphasized his desire to give back as much as possible. He truly has a golden heart to match his golden arm.
