When the Kansas City Chiefs traded All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the football world was left in shambles.

On March 23, 2022, the Chiefs traded Hill to Miami in exchange for their 2022 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, two fourth-round picks, and a 2023 sixth-round pick.

Many were left confused as to why one of the best wide receivers was traded away from one of the best quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes.

Hill reportedly wanted more money in Kansas City as the two were negotiating an extension, but it never came to fruition. As a result, the team explored options and agreed to send the star receiver to the Dolphins.

Upon signing with Miami, the star WR signed a massive four-year $120 million deal which included $72.2 million guaranteed.

Many thought the two would struggle a bit this season being away from one another, but that wasn't the case.

In 2021, Mahomes threw for 4,839 yards, 37 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and posted a 98.5 passer rating.

This season, without Hill, he threw for 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and had a passer rating of 105.2.

The 28-year-old recorded 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns with Mahomes last season. In his first season with Miami, he recorded career-highs in receptions (119) yards (1,710) and scored seven touchdowns.

While the two were a dominant duo with each other in Kansas City, they have proved that they can both still shine and be at the top of their positions without one another.

In Hill's seven-year career, he's earned seven Pro Bowl honors, four All-Pro honors, and is a Super Bowl champion. He's recorded 75 total touchdowns and has over 10,000 total yards from scrimmage.

In Mahomes' six-year career, he's become league MVP, has won a Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP, has a 64-16 record, an NFL record 105.7 passer rating, and has thrown for 24,241 yards. Furthermore, he's accounted for 204 total touchdowns.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins are both in the playoffs

Both Tyreek Hill and Patrick Mahomes' teams are in the AFC Playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs earned the number-one seed in the AFC as they finished the regular season with a 14-3 record. They started the season 4-2 but then won 10 out of their last 11 games of the season to earn a first-round bye. A Chiefs-Bills AFC Championship game could be played at a neutral site.

The Miami Dolphins snuck in as a wild-card team as they finished the season 9-8, earning them the seventh seed in the conference. They will face the Buffalo Bills this Sunday on the road.

While it's possible Hill and Mahomes can meet in the playoffs, it seems unlikely as the Dolphins will face a tough challenge in Buffalo.
