Pete Carroll's remarkable run with the Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll was employed as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks in 2010. Still, his appointment didn't exactly please the Seattle fans. Many wondered why he got the job following underwhelming stints with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots.
However, Carroll was just coming off a highly successful NCAA coaching career where he won back-to-back NCAA championships with the University of South Carolina.
One of the first things he did when he went to the Seahawks was change their defensive pattern and radically alter the offensive scheme. He chose to be aggressive on both fronts, with his defense earning him the moniker of "Legion of Boom." His offense wasn't bad either, marshaled by star quarterback Russell Wilson and All-Pro running back Marshawn Lynch.
Carroll's new schemes at the Seattle Seahawks soon yielded dividends as he made the Super Bowl in 2013. He trounced the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos 43-8 in the big game.
The Seahawks' run wasn't over just yet as they reached the Super Bowl finals in the 2014-5 NFL season as well. Unfortunately, they were bested by the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots.
Since then, Carroll has kept the Seahawks competitive, leading them to multiple playoff berths. He ensured that the team's culture of hard work is maintained despite the numerous moving pieces among the playing personnel.
