The defending Super Bowl champions will enter the NFL draft in a commanding position, as they have the luxury of planning a year ahead for most of the positions. While losing Josh Sweat and Milton Williams during free agency certainly hurts, Philly took care of their most important asset in Zack Baun by inking him to a 3-year contract, as per Spotrac. Letting Mekhi Becton walk might not be that big of a deal if Kenyon Green, whom they traded for, fits on their offensive line. While there is a need on the Edge and o-line to some extent, most other positions don’t warrant a desperation move from Howie Roseman come the 2025 NFL draft.
What are the Philadelphia Eagles' biggest needs in the 2025 NFL Draft?
While Philly can always opt for the best player available, the following 3 positions are also of utmost priority, and the Eagles could be looking to get an upgrade at those positions or fill a void left by the departure of some players in free agency.
#3 Offensive Guard
Tyler Steen and the newly traded Kenyon Green are in-house pieces that the Eagles would be hoping to gain more from. However, Steen did not overly impress with his 2024 campaign, to say the least, as PFF gave him a 40.6 overall grade. His replacement, Becton, did a solid job protecting Jalen Hurts, but the LA Chargers scooped him up in free agency. Kenyon Green is a project, and to go into the season with just these two as right tackle options isn't exactly a confidence booster.
#2 Defensive Lineman
The team with the starting rotation of Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis might be enough to create havoc in the opposition's backfield, but losing Milton Williams certainly looms large in that interior. Eagles could look at some of the options in the draft, such as Ohio State’s Tyleik Williams, South Carolina’s T.J. Sanders, Ole Miss’ Walter Nolen, and Shemar Turner of Texas A&M, to make that starting rotation scarier like before.
#1 Edge Rushers
While the Eagles added Azeez Ojulari and Joshua Uche this offseason, neither of them screams elite production. Last year’s big acquisition, Bryce Huff, also had an underwhelming season, which puts all the limelight on Howie Roseman, who loves building through the trenches. While Jordan Davis certainly helps stop the run game, it’s also essential to bring down opposing quarterbacks. According to Bleeding Green Nation, Philly did invite Boston College’s Donovan Ezeiruaku, SMU’s Elijah Roberts, Tyler Baron from Miami, UCLA’s Oluwafemi Oladejo, and Nic Scourton of Texas A&M for pre-draft visits.
