The Philadelphia Eagles face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season and key players like A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Lane Johnson are battling various knocks that might throw their participation in doubt.

The Eagles would hope to have all of their stalwarts available because they face a team with an identical 2-1 record like them and also because the Buccaneers knocked them out in the Wild Card round of the playoffs last season. The reason Philadelphia had to travel to Florida to face the game was because they lost out on the top spot of the NFC East after their offensive and defensive structures imploded in the last third of 2023.

Those issues are fully yet to be ironed out even though Nick Sirianni has changed both his offensive and defensive coordinators for the season. Both their wins in 2024 against the Packers and the Saints in Week 1 and 3, respectively, have been scrappy. Their loss in Week 2 to the Falcons was equally narrow, as they lost by a single point.

Tampa Bay itself is also facing similar issues, as they had a bad loss against the Broncos last week, which handed Denver their first victory of the season. That this came about after two wins on the trot against the Commanders and the Lions makes it hard for us to judge where the Buccaneers find themselves. If Philadelphia is to hand them their second consecutive defeat, they will have to do so without the service of some of their injured players.

Philadelphia Eagles injury report for Week 4

The good news for the Eagles in the injury report is that key players Landon Dickerson and Darius Slay are ready to play against the Buccaneers. The guard had a wrist issue but was in full practice on Thursday and Friday, and the cornerback was not limited by his knee injury throughout the week.

Tackle Mekhi Becton and defensive tackle Milton Williams have overcome finger and groin injuries, respectively, and participated in full practice on Friday. However, Devin White will not play against his old team after he was left out for personal reasons, which follows him remaining inactive despite a healthy scratch in previous games.

The bad news for Philadelphia, though, is that three of their stalwarts are either out of the game in Week 4 or questionable. That includes wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and tackle Lane Johnson.

A.J. Brown's injury status

A.J. Brown suffered a hamstring injury before Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season and did not play in the last couple of games. His 119 yards in the first game in Brazil against the Packers showed how important he is to the offense and Eagles fans were looking optimistic when he was initially listed as questionable.

But it was since downgraded to out, and A.J. Brown will not take the field against the Buccaneers. With Philadelphia having a bye next week, it will give the wide receiver enough time to recuperate without suffering a setback. Parris Campbell and John Ross have been elevated from the practice squad for their matchup against Tampa Bay.

DeVonta Smith's injury status

DeVonta Smith suffered a concussion in the final quarter of the Eagles' win against the Saints last week. New Orleans defensive tackle Khristian Boyd delivered the hit after the wide receiver's progress had already been seemingly halted but the referees had not blown the whistle.

DeVonta Smith was knocked out and did not practice on any day of this week. He was already declared out when the Friday injury report came out and will not be featuring against Tampa Bay.

Lane Johnson's injury status

Lane Johnson also suffered a concussion in Week 3 during the last quarter. Worryingly, he was seen throwing up on the sidelines and was put on concussion protocol.

But on the bright side, he did participate in limited practice on Friday, after not taking part on Wednesday and Thursday. This gives him a better chance to make it to the field but officially, he is questionable. If he cannot suit up, Fred Johnson will start at the right tackle for the Eagles.
