The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Atlanta Falcons for their first home game of the season and Saquon Barkley's debut in front of his new adoring supporters. After defeating the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, the running back has been the toast of town after contributing to three touchdowns in that game. His efforts resulted in the Eagles coming into Week 2 with a 1-0 record.
The Falcons, meanwhile, had a sobering start. Kirk Cousins was supposed to make them immediate playoff contenders but they just scored 10 points as the former Minnesota Vikings quarterback looked uncomfortable coming back from an Achilles injury on his right foot. They scored just 10 points as the Pittsburgh Steelers won the game with 18 of their own.
Thus, Monday Night Football in Week 2 featured two teams considered dark horses before the season but who were coming off of varying results.
Here is how the action went down:

Falcons vs. Eagles game summary
The Eagles welcomed the Falcons to Philadelphia and in the first quarter, both teams felt each other out as the scoreboard refused to tick. An early chance for a field goal was spurned by Nick Sirianni and his coaching staff as they sought to lay down a marker of their intentions and they failed to convert a fourth down in the red zone.
In the second quarter, things started heating up a bit as the Falcons scored a field goal and the Eagles had a touchdown. With the score 7-3, Cousins had the chance to throw for a score in the two-minute warning but decided to play it safe as they were receiving the ball to begin the second half. A late field goal meant that Philadelphia went into the break ahead 7-6.
In the third quarter, both kickers had a field goal each but Atlanta managed to score a touchdown too, going up 15-10. They tried a two-point conversion that failed as they attempted to open up a seven-point lead.
But the main action and thrills came in the final quarter. The Eagles were roaring down the field with fans cheering and had a touchdown and a field goal to move ahead by 21-15. A fumble by Bijan Robinson that was recovered should have been enough for Philadelphia to run down the clock.
They nearly did that but Saquon Barkley dropped a dime from Jalen Hurts that would have given them a touchdown within the two-minute warning and ended the game.
Instead, it stopped the clock with more than one-and-a-half minutes left for Kirk Cousins to engineer a drive, which he did with some aplomb. The conversion gave the Falcons a 22-21 lead with half a minute remaining. Jalen Hurts tried to get the Eagles in field goal range but threw an interception to allow the Falcons to exhaust the clock. What started as a slow burner ended as a barn burner.
