Miami Dolphins veteran running back Raheem Mostert sat out his third straight game on Monday due to a chest injury he sustained in the team's Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mostert was deemed questionable on Miami's final injury report for the Week 4 game, however, he was declared inactive 90 minutes before kickoff. He has now missed games against the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks and the Titans, and the Dolphins lost each of those games.

Mostert was again limited during the Dolphins' practice on Wednesday. This could indicate that his chest problem is still present, and he may miss the Fins game in Week 5.

Mostert led the team in rushing last season, demonstrating his importance to the Dolphins attack. He also set a franchise record for touchdowns (22) in the 2023 season.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said last Saturday, prior to their Week 4 game, that while he was aware that Mostert intended to play, he wasn't sure that he would be able to.

In any case, given that Mostert also recorded limited practice participation last week, it's clear that he's getting closer to making a comeback. It's unclear, though, if he will be fully recovered in time for the Week 5 matchup with the New England Patriots.

The former San Francisco 49ers running back has two more opportunities on Thursday and Friday to boost his practice participation category before Sunday's road game. De'Von Achane is expected to lead the team's backfield again in Week 5 against the Patriots if Raheem Mostert is still out.

Raheem Mostert injury update: What happened to the Dolphins' RB?

Raheem Mostert sustained a chest injury in the first game of the 2024 NFL season against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Coach Mike McDaniel stated that the injury occurred early in the Week 1 game, but he has not disclosed the extent or type of damage. Additionally, he noted that Mostert showed toughness by playing through it.

Mostert only managed nine yards on six rushes and added 10 yards on two receptions in that season-opening contest.

Following Mostert's injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network stated that the 32-year-old running back will return "sooner, rather than later" and wouldn't be placed on the Dolphins' injured reserve. However, Mostert has now missed three straight games and hasn't participated fully in practice either.
