"Wouldn't be able to make it through the year without his knee exploding" - Rams knew Odell Beckham Jr. would suffer serious injury before signing him for Super Bowl run

Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still currently recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the Super Bowl this past February.

The injury has kept him from signing with a team this off-season as he's a free agent, and many thought he'd sign with a contender midway through the season.

According to NFL reporters Dov Kleiman and Albert Breer, before the Rams signed him last season, they knew his knee would explode.

Kleiman Tweeted:

"They thought he wouldn't be able to make it through the year without his knee exploding."

Here's Breer's full comment that Kleiman was referring to:

"Odell Beckham’s 2020 surgery was a mess to the point where the Rams had concerns about signing him last year—feeling like his knee was a ticking timebomb. That bomb went off in the Super Bowl."

"Hope is the recovery from this one will be cleaner. But there’s a lot to sort through."

In Week 7 against the Bengals during the Browns' 2020 season, Beckham Jr. left the game with a knee injury. It was revealed that he tore his ACL. He would go on to miss the rest of the season.

The surgery that Breer was referencing is this surgery that hindered his knee. The Rams took a chance on him and signed him, and it took until the Super Bowl for OBJ's knee to give out again.

Ed Werder tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the Cowboys have concerns about Beckham Jr.'s health and don't think he's ready to return to the field. They worry that he might not be able to play during the 2022-2023 season, and think it wouldn't make sense to sign him.

Beckham Jr. has been linked to the Cowboys, New York Giants, and Buffalo Bills.

There's a chance he may not sign with a team this season due to recent reports of his knee status.

In his career, he has recorded 531 receptions for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns. Whenever he signs to a team, whether it's this season or next, the team will get a seasoned veteran who can still have an impact on the field if healthy.
