The Buffalo Bills slipped to a 3-2 record after a narrow loss to the Houston Texans last week, but Monday Night Football offers a chance at redemption and an opportunity to firmly take control of the AFC West. The Bills will go up against the 2-3 New York Jets, who recently fired coach Robert Saleh. Jeff Ulbrich has been appointed as interim coach, which presents a different challenge for the Bills.
However, the Bills have another concern to deal with. Lead running back James Cook suffered a turf toe injury in the Week 5 loss to Houston and was a DNP on Thursday and Friday, putting his availability for Monday Night Football in major doubt. The Bills turned to Ty Johnson after Cook's injury, but with Ray Davis also on the roster, which running back will come out on top in Week 6?
Ty Johnson vs. Ray Davis fantasy outlook for Week 6
Johnson had just one touch that went for a three-yard touchdown in what was eventually a 35-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Surprisingly, despite being the unofficial RB3 behind Ray Davis, Johnson logged a season-high 34% of the snaps in the Week 5 loss to the Texans, with Davis demoted to RB3 duties with just two snaps.

Cook is the undisputed RB1 in this offense, that much is not up for debate. But considering the Bills will have to ease him back into action once he recovers from a turf toe, we are likely to see Buffalo use Ty Johnson and Ray Davis a lot more.
Since we saw coach Sean McDermott suddenly shake things up between Weeks 4 and 5 with his depth chart, it's difficult to say which of Johnson or Davis will get the majority of the workload. For all we know, Dermott could decide to split the reps down the middle.
One thing that could (and probably will) be a factor in this decision is the fact that Johnson saw a lot more work.
On the season, Johnson is averaging 4.2 yards per carry as compared to 2.9 for Davis. The latter also didn't get a single carry in the loss to Houston and registered one catch for four yards instead.
Meanwhile, Johnson found the end zone twice in two games against the Jaguars and the Ravens.
Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer doesn't see a clear winner in this duel, but given Ty Johnson has seen the majority of the reps over the past week, we're inclined to give this one to Johnson.
