With offers from several top footballing universities such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and more, McCloud decided to go to Clemson University where he played on the Clemson Tigers football team from 2015 to 2017. Overall his impact in college was not as good as his high school days. In three years he caught 127 passes for 1,226 receiving yards and just 4 receiving touchdowns.

Additionally, McCloud was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and as a result of which his first contract in the league was worth just over $2.6 million over 4 years. While that is still a significantly large amount of money, it is nowhere near what the top NFL players are earning.

Moreover, McCloud has been used more in the special teams as a kick and punt returner than as a wide receiver. Therefore, he doesn’t see as much action on the field to boost his stock.
