Reggie Bush was an NFL running back for 11 seasons from 2006 to 2017. Bush was born in 1985 in La Mesa, California. He completed his high school education from Helix High School where he also played as a running back on the football team. He was the 2003 Gatorade National Player of the Year. Bush then played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and won the 2005 Heisman Trophy along with being a two-time consensus All-American.
The New Orleans Saints drafted Bush second overall in 2006. Reggie won Super Bowl XLIV with the Saints after 6 seasons. He also played for the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions, and the San Francisco 49ers before he retired from the NFL. He finished his career with 5,490 rushing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 3,598 receiving yards.
Bush relinquished his Heisman Trophy in 2010 after the NCAA identified inappropriate perks at USC. The NCAA also fined USC 14 wins and a two-year postseason suspension. However, in April 2024, the Heisman Trust reinstated Bush and sent him his original Heisman Trophy while also giving a replica to USC.
Bush is considered one of the finest college football players ever. However, his Heisman Trophy controversy will remain forever. Reggie was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (HOF).
Reggie Bush’s Height
Reggie Bush stands at a height of 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m). As far as running backs in the NFL are concerned, Bush is slightly taller than average. Most backs in the league will be around 5 ft 10 in. During his time in the league, Bush was able to use his height to his advantage by taking longer strides and being able to reach further for first downs or touchdowns.
Being somewhat tall for a running back also proved useful in his pass-catching game, which is an area where many struggle.
Reggie Bush’s Wingspan
Reggie Bush's wingspan is private. Some sources place Bush's wingspan at 6'6". This would be above average for a running back, but it may be inaccurate.
Bush's height and wingspan gave him a reach and traffic-playing advantage. He could see over defenders and cut where others couldn't. His reach would have allowed him to box out defenders and catch in traffic.
However, wingspan is only one component of a player's playmaking abilities. Vision, quickness, and agility are also vital. Bush was a talented athlete with these traits, thus his wingspan was just one of his many skills.
