Running back Rhamondre Stevenson of the New England Patriots hurt his foot during the team's Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Following that Sunday's game, Stevenson said he doesn't anticipate missing any time because of the ankle injury he suffered against the Dolphins. However, the RB has now missed two consecutive practices on Wednesday and Thursday and is trending towards not being available in Week 6.
New England coach Jerod Mayo provided a positive update on Friday. He said Stevenson's foot ailment should not sideline him for long. However, Mayo also dropped a hint that the team will be elevating one of Kevin Harris or Terrell Jennings from the practice squad for the Week 6 game, suggesting that Stevenson will likely not be available.
This week's game against the Houston Texans is a difficult one for the Patriots at home, so having Rhamondre Stevenson available is practically a need. However, Antonio Gibson is expected to play more snaps in the Patriots' backfield against the Texans if Stevenson ends up sitting out, with JaMycal Hasty filling in as backup.

Rhamondre Stevenson injury update: What happened to the Patriots' RB?
New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo said before last weekend's Week 5 game that he had made the decision not to start Rhamondre Stevenson because of fumbling concerns, but the veteran running back still provided backup roles in that game against the Miami Dolphins.
However, Stevenson suffered a leg injury late in the contest and briefly left the field. Stevenson hurt his leg after being tackled by several Dolphins defenders at once as New England attempted to mount a late comeback to take the lead late in the fourth quarter.
Rhamondre Stevenson hobbled off the field after sustaining the injury, and he spent a considerable amount of time being examined by the team's medical personnel on the sidelines. After that, he went back out onto the field, but he didn't see any more action until the end.
Stevenson claimed that his injury was caused by an opponent defender hitting his helmet against his own calf after the game. He added that he doesn't see the injury becoming a problem in the future.
It now appears Stevenson won't be available for the Patriots in Week 6, as he has been DNP in the team's first two practices on Wednesday and Thursday. If he is sidelined in Week 6, Antonio Gibson, who started in Stevenson's place against the Dolphins, is anticipated to be the primary running back.
